Katie Unthank brings to CHANGE her expertise in research translation and utilization for organizations working to ensure and protect sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) domestically and around the world. Prior to joining CHANGE, Katie led communications and knowledge management for the reproductive health program at the Population Council. During this time, she was also the lead communications specialist for the DFID-funded Evidence to End Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) Research Consortium, an African-led group of researchers generating high-quality evidence to influence strategic investment, policy, and programs to eliminate FGM/C. Katie earned her BA in Public Communications with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the American University in Washington, D.C. She believes that strategic communications and outreach are key to protecting SRHR around the world and ultimately achieving global gender equality.
