US Global Health & Foreign Aid Experts React to Israel’s Planned Annexation of the West Bank

Reports broke today that Israel is moving to carry out its plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, setting off an uproar in the middle east. Netanyahu has pledged to begin the annexation process as soon as July 1, when he has scheduled a formal cabinet session on implementation.

Serra Sippel, President of CHANGE (the Center for Health and Gender Equity), a leading US advocacy organization that promotes health and human rights in US foreign policy, issued the following in response:

“Israel’s planned annexation of the West Bank is an egregious violation of international law and a moral outrage. That the White House has encouraged Netanyahu’s illegal land grab is a clear sign that Trump's “vision for peace” includes denying the people of Palestine the right to live free from occupation and oppression. Without equal rights and justice there can be no peace. The alliance between Netanyahu’s racist government and white supremacists in the White House should concern every American.

“CHANGE stands with the Palestinian people amidst these horrific threats to human rights and calls on the US government to join dozens of other countries in actively urging Israel to drop its annexation plans immediately.”
